HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - A $430,000 Lamborghini slid into a tree line and caught on fire Aug. 25, leaving the driver with a minor injury and police investigating conflicting details.
Witnesses said two cars were traveling together at a very high rate of speed on I-196 at Mile Marker 53 near Holland. They did not say the cars were racing or weaving in and out of traffic.
But the driver of the Lamborghini lost control, and the sports car caught on fire after hitting the trees.
The second car was a red or orange Toyota-type passenger vehicle that did not stop after the Lamborghini slid off the road.
The Lamborghini driver was treated and released for a bump on the forehead.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department hopes to complete its investigation by the end of the week.
