ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) - As friends and fellow students at Zeeland West High School gathered Thursday morning to pray for his recovery, Kyle Bruursema remained in critical condition following a high-speed crash near the Ottawa Area Tech Center a day earlier.

Witnesses told police the driver was speeding in his full-size GMC pickup truck on southbound Port Sheldon Street in Olive Township at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Bruursema lost control of his vehicle near 104th Avenue, north of New Holland Street. He over-corrected, authorities said, and crossed the road, went through a ditch, struck a utility pole, causing the truck to roll several times.
