Police: Two incidents may be related

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - The Holland Department of Public Safety is investigating two home invasions that may be related.

The first crime occurred around Jan. 10 at a residence in the 900 block of Columbia Avenue. Thieves stole a flat-screen TV, money and a .357 revolver handgun. Police were not able to locate a point of entry and believe the suspects may have entered through an unlocked door.

Then owners of a residence in the 200 block of E. 35th Street reported someone had broken into their home by forcing open the locked rear door. Three semi-automatic handguns -- a .380 pistol, a .45 pistol and a 9mm pistol -- were stolen.

Police said the crimes might be connected due to their proximity, and the fact that the majority of the stolen items were guns.

The crimes occurred between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., police said, and no one in the area reported seeing anyone or anything suspicious, according to a news release.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a vehicle driving slowly or any suspicious people in the area to call authorities at 616. 355.1100, 616.355.1150, or Silent Observer at 1.877.887.4536, or email police at policetips@cityofholland.com.
