SPRING LAKE, Mich. (WOOD) - An apparent electrical fire caused about $5,000 in damage to a furniture store in Ottawa County.
Spring Lake Township firefighters were dispatched at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday to a report of smoke in the men's restroom at Izzy Design, 17237 Van Wagoner Road.
Those inside the furniture store had already evacuated when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the ceiling space. Sprinklers in the building did not activate due to the fire's small size and quick action by the firefighters, according to a news release.
Firefighters, also from Ferrysburg and Crockery Township, stayed at the scene for two hours to check for hotspots and help store personnel to clean up.
