OLIVE TOWNSHIP. Mich. (WOOD) - A man from Muskegon died after his car rear-ended a semitruck at an Ottawa County intersection Friday morning.
Anthony Doremire, 31, was extricated from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing his seat belt at the time. Witnesses told police he did not brake or swerve to avoid the collision.
The Holland Sentinel is reporting that police say he most likely fell asleep at the wheel.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 31 near Port Sheldon Street in Olive Township were closed for about three hours as police investigated.
It was around 8 a.m. when the incident happened as the truck was stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection, police told 24 Hour News 8 at the scene.
The truck driver and passenger were not hurt.
