BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Two children were transported to a hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ottawa County Friday morning.

The wreck occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue in Blendon Township, northwest of Hudsonville.

Kenneth Campfield, 59, from Allendale, was driving south in his pickup truck and did not stop at the four-way-stop intersection, according to the sheriff's department.

His vehicle collided with an eastbound car driven by 43-year-old Kevin Groothuis from Zeeland, who had stopped at the intersection before proceeding, police said.

The impact then forced Groothuis's car into a nearby ditch.

Both drivers wore seat belts and were not injured.

Two children were safely buckled in Groothuis' car. Grace Groothuis, 7, was critically injured and a medical helicopter transported her to a hospital. Hannah Groothuis, 9, was seriously injured and an ambulance transported her to a hospital.

Campfield was ticketed for disregarding a stop sign.
