HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - In what was described as a "meticulous" operation, vehicles at two Ottawa County dealerships were burglarized, and police in West Michigan are investigating similar recent crimes.
Todd Wenzel Chevrolet, 3156 Highland Dr. in Hudsonville, and Elhart GMC, 822 Chicago Dr. in Holland, were hit during the late evening of Aug. 17 and early morning of Aug. 18, resulting in $30,000 worth of damage, police said.
Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department said the thief or thieves break through a rear passenger window of the vehicle, climb through without setting off the alarm and then "meticulously" take the stereo, DVD, GPS, CD player and other electronics.
He said there are similar instances at other Ottawa County dealerships in Hudsonville, Holland and Grand Haven. He's also working with police departments in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo where similar crimes took place.
Descriptions of the suspects are not available at this time, and the investigation continues.
