22,400 outages statewide after storms

Some may be without power until Monday night

THROUGHOUT WEST MICHIGAN (WOOD) - Thousands of people across the state are without power due to storms that rolled through the area Friday morning.

Here are the West Michigan county-by-county power outages and estimated restoration times for Consumers Energy customers as of 5 p.m Saturday:

  • Allegan -- 8,950 -- expected back on Monday at 8 p.m.
  • Barry -- 96 -- expected back tonight at midnight
  • Ottawa -- 170 -- expected back Sunday at 4 p.m.
  • Kalamazoo -- 4,900 -- expected back Monday at 8 p.m.
  • Ionia -- 75 -- expected back tonight at midnight
  • Kent -- 219 -- expected back tonight at midnight
  • Van Buren -- 3,700 -- expected back tonight at midnight

Consumers Energy is working to restore the power to all customers as soon as possible. They anticipate all power to be restored by Sunday at noon.

More than 98,000 wires have been reported down across the state.

About 5,000 Holland BPW customers were without power on Friday night, but about 3,000 customers were back on by about 2 or 3 a.m.

A spokesperson with BPW says it may take up to two days to restore power to all remaining customers, especially those in the Waukazoo and Old Orchard Road areas.
