HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Holland was pummeled by rain that flooded the city and washed out roads.
On 24 Hour News 8 Friday night, Holland Mayor Al McGeehan asked Holland residents to stay off the roads.
"Holland is under water," McGeehan told 24 Hour News 8. McGeehan has reports of many streets being flooded and to stay off the roads.
Unless it's an extreme emergency, do NOT call 911 as they are swamped by callers.
If you have water in your basement, flooding on your property, do not call 911.
"I've spoken to our city manager, we've got all of our Holland Police Department out, they're being assisted by the Holland Fire Department," said McGeehan. "We want to ask people to stay off the roads. We are barricading many roads."
"The cleanup is going to take much of the weekend," said McGeehan.
"We have been spared any serious injuries," McGeehan said during the 11pm newscast on WOOD TV.
