COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - A registered sex offender was arrested last week on the "Touchback" movie set in Coopersville after sheriff's deputies were called to investigate reports of the man offering and performing massages on women, a sheriff's investigator said Monday.
Women who felt uncomfortable told on-set security and 39-year-old Timothy Ketchapaw was told to leave, Ottawa County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Bennett told 24 Hour News 8.
But he came back, Bennett said, and that's when deputies were called.
Ketchapaw, of Grand Rapids, was arrested because he is not allowed to be on school property, the lieutenant said. Coopersville High School is one of the "Touchback" filming locations.
The 39-year-old faces a felony charge for second-offense violation of a student safety zone, according to a Michigan State Police record search performed by 24 Hour News 8. The records show he pleaded guilty to a 2007 misdemeanor safety zone violation in Grand Rapids.
A 1997 incident landed Ketchapaw on the sex offender registry, according to the records. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor incident exposure and a felony charge of sexual delinquency.
Prosecutors are considering assault charges against Ketchapaw based on the accounts of three alleged victims, Bennett said. The alleged assaults were not sexual in nature, he said.
24 Hour News 8 tried to reach Ketchapaw for comment. The only listed phone number that could be found was disconnected.
