HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - The official cause of a plane crash that killed two Hope College students Sunday has not been determined.

But it took no time for Hope community members to talk about how they felt.

David Otai, a 23-year-old exchange student from Kenya had an impressive collection of flight credentials, including a commercial license. Still, the plane he was flying crashed into a field, killing both him and his passenger, 20-year-old Emma Biagioni.

Biagioni was politically active, her friends told 24 Hour News 8 on Monday. She also worked at The Anchor, Hope's student newspaper and was quick to make friends.

On Facebook, some of her friends were quick to talk about their loss, and remember her and Otai.

For Tyler Depke -- now in graduate school in Texas -- the first time he met Biagioni, or Emma B, as he calls her, the two talked for hours.

He told 24 Hour News 8 via Skype on Monday what made her a truly good friend. He said faith is comforting in this time of shock and sadness.
