Bicyclist runs red light, hit, killed

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A vehicle hit and killed a bicyclist after police say the rider went through a red light at an Ottawa County intersection.

Police have identified the victim as 31-year-old Daniel William Eskildsen of Holland.

Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 Eskildsen was riding on Riley Street around 11 p.m. Monday near Holland when he got to U.S. 31 and didn't stop at the traffic light.

An oncoming vehicle driven by a Holland woman then hit the bicyclist, police say.

Emergency personnel were about two minutes away from the crash when it happened. However, when they arrived at the scene, they said Eskildsen already died.
