SPRING LAKE, Mich. (WOOD) - Four people were injured in a two-car crash in Spring Lake Friday afternoon when a teenage driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Just after 5 p.m., Rebecca Plont, 16, fell asleep while driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix and crossed the center line on M-104 near 144th Avenue. She hit a car driven by Dianna Medema head-on.

Medema, 58, and her passenger Brittany Medema, 16, were pinned inside their 1987 Reliant. They were flown to Spectrum Health in downtown Grand Rapids. The elder woman is in critical condition, while the teen is listed as serious.

Plont, of Nunica, is listed in good condition at North Ottawa Community Hospital. Her passenger, Amy Tovey, 34 of Grand Haven, is stable at Hackley Hospital.

The road was closed for hours but re-opened around 8 p.m.
