HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 5-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a Holland Township two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.
Around 4:15 p.m., Aimee Riemersma was turning her vehicle north onto 112th Avenue from the eastbound I-196 Business Loop when her Jeep Cherokee was hit by a westbound pickup truck, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Riemersma's son was in a booster seat in the back seat of their vehicle, according to authorities, and taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Riemersma's other son, a 1-year-old, was in a child seat and not hurt.
Riemersma -- 26 from Holland -- and the other driver -- Zachary Oudman, 23, from Wyoming -- suffered minor injuries and treated at the scene. They were wearing seat belts.
Oudman did not stop at a red light at the intersection, authorities said, and Riemersma was turning on a green arrow light, police said.
Alcohol is not thought to be a factor.
