HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - A 17-year-old involved in what police say was a gang-related shooting over the weekend was in court Monday.

Luis Fernando Soto was arraigned Monday afternoon in Holland on charges of misdemeanor possession of a handgun by a minor and careless discharge of a firearm in connection to the Sunday incident, and an unrelated case of malicious destruction of property.

Soto pleaded guilty to the weapons charges and not guilty to malicious destruction of property.

The shooting, which police say was gang-related, happened in the 400 block of Stratford Way around 1:40 a.m. Sunday. Soto was found with minor injuries shortly after the incident. Police say he fired several rounds from a .40 caliber handgun. He was treated at a Holland hospital and then arrested.

Stray bullets hit several houses in the area, including one where a 3-year-old girl was sleeping. The girl's family said the bullet was just inches above the bed where the girl slept.

Monday, police said two rounds entered Stratford Way residences, but no one was hurt in those cases.

Police still don't know if anyone was shot in the incident. No on has come forward to cooperate.

Soto remains in jail pending sentencing.

Holland Police say more charges may follow as the investigation progresses.
