PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 10-year-old girl leaving a friend's house on a bicycle was struck by a car in Park Township late Tuesday afternoon.
Ottawa County authorities say the child was wearing dark clothing and failed to stop at the end of a driveway before trying to cross Riley Street near 160th Avenue to get to a nearby bike path.
The girl rode into oncoming traffic, Ottawa County authorities say, and was hit by an eastbound car.
She was taken first to Holland Community Hospital and then airlifted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, where she is in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
