PIERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Investigators looking into the late October double homicide of a Pierson Township couple believe the two were killed in their home within two to three hours of a 911 call for a fire there, the Montcalm County sheriff told 24 Hour News 8 Tuesday.
It now appears that fire -- which investigators say did not kill the couple -- started in multiple places and was intentionally set, Sheriff Bill Barnwell said.
But so far, he said investigators don't have any suspects and they're not sure why Michael and Kathleen Greene were killed.
The four or five sheriffs and Michigan State Police detectives working the case do have leads they're following, Barnwell said. And they're still looking for a white or light-colored vehicle -- possibly an SUV -- that was seen in the driveway of the couple's home in the 3000 block of Shorecrest Drive.
A neighbor's report of fire around 11 p.m. on Oct. 28 brought firefighters to the home, but first responders quickly concluded it didn't appear that fire killed the couple. On Oct. 29, Barnwell reported the Greenes were both the victims of homicide.
Investigators have asked anyone with information about the vehicle or the case to call (989) 831-7590.
