NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man reported missing last month was recently found dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash.
Ross Conkle, 33, from Walkerville was last seen Sept. 18 and reported missing on Sept. 25. Family members told the Oceana County Sheriff's Office they were concerned after he had not contacted them.
The sheriff's office and Michigan State Police began a search.
Deputies were dispatched just after 5 p.m. Oct. 13 to the intersection of S. 204th Avenue and E. Woodrow Road in Newfield Township to investigate a report of a body and motorcycle in a wooded area. A nearby resident saw the bike and body, and called 911.
Deputies arrived at the scene north of Hesperia and saw Conkle deceased.
"It appeared from the scene that he had failed to maneuver the "T" intersection on his motorcycle, went off the road and hit several trees," according to a news release.
It is believed that Conkle died from the impact of this crash, police said.
