CLEON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WOOD) - The man suspected of shooting a 14-year-old girl in Copemish in Manistee County has been caught, according to 9 and 10 News.
Authorities had been looking for Paul Hard, who they say is responsible, since Sunday.
9 and 10 News out of Traverse City was told Hard led police on a short chase and then crashed his SUV, which was when police arrested him.
Police said Hard is an acquaintance of the girl's father.
Police say the girl was home alone Sunday morning when Hard walked inside and shot her several times. A neighbor found her after bursting into the home as she cried for help.
A medical helicopter took the teen in critical condition to a Grand Rapids hospital. She is in stable condition as of Monday morning.
Hard was considered armed and dangerous. Police thought he could be driving a burgundy- or silver-colored, late 1990s Chevrolet Tahoe with Michigan license plate CDS4851.
