LUDINGTON, Mich. (WOOD) - A 41-year-old Ludington man was arraigned Friday for causing the crash that killed two Conklin motorcyclists in late May.
Matthew Ryan Millspaugh is charged with a misdemeanor moving violation that caused the death of Carol and Gary Berenbrock on May 27.
On that day, investigators said, Millspaugh's Pontiac Montana minivan crossed the center line on US-31 just south of Fountain Road near Scottville and hit the Berenbrock's motorcycle -- Gary was driving, Carol was a passenger.
The Berenbrocks died at the scene. He was 59, she was 54. Carol Berenbrock was a fixture at two popular downtown Grand Rapids restaurants - One Trick Pony and The Cottage Bar -- for 25 years.
Neither alcohol nor drug use was a factor in the crash, authorities said.
Millspaugh turned himself in and faces a maximum of one year in jail. His next court appearance is set for November 26.
