SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man and his girlfriend are in jail accused in connection with an assault and threat against one of his neighbors.
Michigan State Police troopers were called July 5 to a residence in Sheridan Township.
A female resident told police the 51-year-old male suspect assaulted her, and then pointed a handgun at her head and threatened to kill her and her family. The resident suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
The male suspect fled the scene.
Troopers contacted the male suspect at his residence and arrested him without incident. The man was taken to the Mecosta County Jail on charges of criminal trespass, felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm.
The investigation then led to the arrest of his 55-year-old girlfriend on July 8 near M-66 and 18 Mile Road. "She had participated in carrying a concealed weapon with criminal intent and witness intimidation in relation to the original incident," according to a news release. Warrants were authorized and she was taken into custody.
