SHERMAN, Mich. (WOOD) - A Newaygo County feed mill is almost a total loss following a Monday morning fire that required firefighters from six departments to douse.

Miller Feeds, 3225 Croswell in Sherman, caught on fire at 6:30 a.m. The owners, Earnest and Wilma Miller, are Amish and had no insurance.

"Their income their livelihood, basically their main support to bring in money for the family. That was it, that was their main source," family friend Jeremy Leonard told 24 Hour News 8.

Community members are helping the Millers because "that's just what they do," he said.

"(The Millers) don't want anybody feeling sorry for them, they don'want pity. This is more to let customers know what's going on, what their thoughts are. We want everybody to have their prayers be with them."

A fund to help the Millers is set up at Gerber Credit Union, 1004 W. Main Street in Fremont.
