TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - The parents of a Traverse City girl who was found dead of a stab wound last month are suing the teenager charged in her killing.

Todd and Susie Lewis filed a wrongful death suit Wednesday against 17-year-old Robert Jensen Schwander, who is being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail on a murder charge.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that the suit seeks damages exceeding $25,000.

The Lewis' attorney, Blake Ringsmuth, said they have suffered financially since their 16-year-old daughter, Carly Lewis, disappeared June 2. Her body was found June 14 buried in a sand pile at the city's public works complex.

Craig Elhart, Schwander's attorney, declined comment Thursday.
