ENSLEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A teen was killed and three other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Newaygo County on Sunday afternoon.
A family member told 24 Hour News 8 Monday that a 13-year-old girl was killed. A friend of the family said the girl's name was Daizi Georgiades.
The girl had attended Central Montcalm schools, the family member said, and was in the process of moving from Montcalm County to Grant with her mother.
Aero Med was dispatched to the scene of the crash, which happened just after 4:30 p.m. on 120th Street near Pear Avenue in Ensley Township, east of Grant.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a westbound vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to cross the center line into the path of the second vehicle, according to Michigan State Police.
All three people in the second vehicle, one of which was the 13-year-old girl, were initially taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Two were listed in stable condition.
The friend of the family said the mother of the girl killed remained in the ICU Monday and that her brother was treated for two broken wrists and released.
The driver of the first vehicle was also taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors, according to a news release from MSP.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt.
Fire departments and first responders from Sand Lake and Grant, along with Life EMS Ambulance, Rockford Ambulance, and Montcalm County EMS responded to the scene.
