VAN BUREN, Mo. (WOOD) - Authorities in Missouri used blood hounds to search for a Big Rapids man who has been missing since Tuesday.
Fred Byrne, 49, was last seen leaving his mother's Holland home on Feb. 12. His car was found unlocked Thursday evening parked off a service road in Mark Twain National Forest in Van Buren, Mo.
His wallet was in the back seat and the keys were in the center console, but there was no sign of Byrne. The car had apparently been there a couple of days before it was reported to Carter County Sheriff's deputies.
Authorities searched for Byrne Saturday until dark without coming up with sign of him. They searched again Sunday with blood hounds.
Byrne is described as a 6-foot-3, 340-pound man with blond hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Byrne is asked to contact the Director Andrea Nerbonne or Detective Brian Miller of the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety at 231.527.0005.
