Remus residents shoot 19-year-old in arm

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A father and son from Remus were arrested after a 19-year-old Big Rapids man was shot in the arm Saturday morning.

Big Rapids DPS tells 24 Hour News 8 that the victim was walking home when he was confronted by the 24-year-old. DPS says the confrontation stemmed from an altercation earlier in the evening between the 24-year-old and friends of the 19-year-old.

DPS says during the confrontation, the 24-year-old shot the 19-year-old in the arm. The victim was transported to the Mecosta County Medical Center and was treated and released.

DPS arrested the 24-year-old and are seeking several charges against the man, including attempted homicide. The suspect's 49-year-old father was also arrested in connection with the shooting.

Names of the victim and the suspects have not been released.
