LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) - A Catholic priest who served churches in western Michigan has
pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct.
The Rev. Johnson Jeyabel Pappusamy, former pastor of St. Mary
Catholic Church in Custer and St. Jerome Catholic Church in
Scottville, entered his plea Wednesday on a charge of fourth-degree
criminal sexual conduct.
The Ludington Daily News says the 38-year-old Pappusamy
admitted in circuit court he had improperly touched a 27-year-old
man while shopping in a local department store last February.
Pappusamy resigned from the churches after police began
investigating.
He is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 18. A plea agreement with
the county prosecutor calls for Pappusamy to serve at least 30 days
and up to six months in jail.
