BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Police say a former Baldwin man accused of a 1980 murder in Big Rapids has returned to Michigan to face prosecution.

The Pioneer reports 62-year-old Scott Elwood Graham was brought to the Mecosta County Jail on Saturday.

Graham is charged in the April 23, 1980, beating death of 89-year-old Stella Lintemuth. Evidence taken in 1980 was processed in 2007 using new technology and a warrant for Graham's arrest on an open-murder charge was issued then.

Graham had been civilly committed in California and it took nearly two years for an agreement to be reached with officials there for him to return to Michigan. If he is found not guilty at trial, he will be recommitted in California.

Jail officials declined comment on whether Graham has an attorney.
