PIERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Montcalm County couple was stabbed to death at their home six months ago, authorities revealed for the first time in an effort to kick-start the investigation.
Michael and Kathleen Greene, 59 and 56 respectively, were found dead in their burned home on the north side of Big Whitefish Lake in Pierson Township in October 2010. Police now say the couple died from stab wounds, and there is evidence the husband tried to defend himself. The house was set on fire afterward, police said.
A motive is not definite yet, but the suspect robbed the Greenes of cash and prescription drugs.
Police said Thursday the killer did not act alone. In November, investigators released a sketch (seen to the left in Photos) of a "person of interest" in the case.
A white or light-colored vehicle, possibly an SUV, was parked in the Greene's driveway at the time of the crime, police said.
Investigators hope the newly released information will generate more tips and leads.
