SHELBY, Mich. (WOOD) - A former school superintendent who stole thousands of dollars of school funds will serve jailtime for the felony.

Former Shelby Superintendent Scott Lund, who pleaded guilty to embezzlement by a public official earlier this year, was sentenced Monday to four months in the Oceana County jail.

He'll also have to pay restitution, but the amount has yet to be determined.

The misuse of funds allegedly began when Lund was principal of Oceana High School and continued after he became superintendent, 24 Hour News 8 was told in December 2011.

A 105-page MSP report obtained in December 2011 indicates that between 2008 and 2010, Lund allegedly used $13,000 for personal use. He also allegedly used the school gas card for personal use between July and December 2011.

Lund was placed on paid leave on Dec. 8, 2011 and resigned Dec. 28.
