Worker crushed at Norton Shores plant

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD) - A worker at NuPak Solutions in Norton Shores was killed on the job Wednesday afternoon.

He has been identified as 46-year-old Thomas Arthur Carty Jr.

He was helping another worker clear a Styrofoam part out of a press. Carty was removing the part from inside the press when it activated and crushed him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

NuPak is a privately-owned company that makes insulated shipping containers, protective packaging and building materials.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) continues to investigate.
