BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A vehicle, whose driver lost control on an icy road, struck two teenagers as they walked to their school bus stop in Muskegon County.
The parents of Bruce Bower, 16, and Travis Nelson, 13, transported the teens to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon for treatment to minor injuries.
The teens were walking at 6:50 a.m. Jan. 31 on White Lake Drive near Malta Avenue in Blue Lake Township, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
A Buick crossover was traveling east when its driver lost control on the slick road, crossed the center line and struck the teens and then a tree, police said.
The vehicle hit one of the victims head-on, police said, while the other teen was struck by the side of the vehicle.
The driver was issued a ticket and alcohol was not a factor, police said.
The students attend Whitehall District Schools.
