MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - A teacher in the Reeths-Puffer School District has been suspended for allegedly making "inappropriate comments" in front of a class full of students.
In a letter sent home to parents, superintendent Steven Edwards said his office was notified in December 2012 of an allegation that a sixth-grade teacher had made the inappropriate comments.
"In unusual cases such as this, our first priority is to ensure the emotional safety and support of our students," the letter reads in part.
The district immediately placed the male teacher on administrative leave and is investigating the matter.
"As we provide due process, we are not drawing any conclusions as to the teacher’s conduct," the letter reads.
The superintendent said the alleged comments were not sexual in nature, but he wouldn't comment further on what was said.
