At 4:52 p.m., the resident called 911 and told dispatchers he had surprised two burglars who were in his E. Farr Road home. The resident was able to grab and detain one of the burglars.
The other burglar escaped the house on foot, but was caught by Norton Shores police when he was found on Grand Haven Road.
Police say the suspects had stolen a watch and some medical marijuana. They were trying to steal a safe in the residence when the homeowner returned home and surprised them.
The suspects are described as a 19-year-old Grand Haven man and a 20-year-old West Olive man. Both men are in the Muskegon County Jail and facing burglary and home invasion charges.
