GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Dozens of members of the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang gathered outside Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids Wednesday afternoon to escort fellow member Rick Van Dam upon his release.
Van Dam lost his leg in a May 31 crash in Wisconsin that killed two others, Dan Winsemius and Doug Yonkers. That day, a vehicle crossed the center line of Highway 151 in Fond Du Lac County, heading straight into 12 motorcycles from the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang.
Van Dam spent three weeks in a coma, and he's spent the last several weeks rebuilding his strength at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The bikers escorted him all the way to his home in North Muskegon.
