MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) - The investigation into the Muskegon Heights Public Schools by the Michigan State Police is closed after finding no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
MSP spokeswoman Shanon Banner told 24 Hour News 8 the major case unit decided to close the case because no criminal violations were involved and could be handled by officals in the education department.
The raid by MSP into the Muskegon Heights Board of Education happened nearly a year ago and documents that 24 Hour News 8 obtained showed the state expressed concerns over the use of Title 1 funds .
The documents also showed a lack of safeguards the district had put in place ensuring they were used in accordance with the law.
Under the direction of the Michigan Attorney General's office and the Michigan Department of Education, a search warrant was served at the school board offices.
