MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - A Muskegon man was sent to the hospital in critical condition after being stabbed.

The 40-year-old victim was attending a Fourth of July party at a residence in the 1800 block of Superior Street on Wednesday night when he was stabbed around 9:20 p.m.

A 51-year-old man who lived at the residence allegedly stabbed the man, police said. He fled the scene after the incident, but was taken into police custody soon thereafter.

An stabbing was preceded by a fight between the suspect and victim, who knew one another, police told 24 Hour News 8.

The victim remains in critical condition as of Thursday. His injuries are very serious, doctors told police.
