MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - Police arrested a man who they said videotaped students taking showers at a Muskegon Community College locker room.

Witnesses, a police source and an assistant prosecutor confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 that the man arrested is Ninos Jando of Skokie, Ill.

The police source said there is "no doubt" Jando was taking surveillance in the men's looker room showers.

Two wrestlers in the men's locker room told 24 Hour News 8 Jando was wearing scrubs and that they had seen him there before.

Monday evening, a student wrestler noticed the suspect leaving a shower with a toiletry bag that appeared to contain a camera lens. The student also saw a red light coming from the bag.

"My buddy bent over and saw that there was a lens in the bag, and he's like, 'Wow, what's up with this?'" said Zack Johnston, another MCC wrestler.

The student-athlete confronted Jando and immediately reported the incident to custodian Dennis Stinson.

"I called security because the red flag had come up that this guy doesn't go here," said Stinson.

Stinson and some coaches helped detain the man until campus security arrived. Muskegon police officers were called around 6 p.m. to arrest Jando.

Two cellphones and a camera were confiscated from Jando.

Jando told police he was in town visiting a friend and using a rental car. He had told others that he was visiting area colleges. Authorities do not think he is a Muskegon Community College student.

He has refused to cooperate with police, according to a news release, and is being lodged at the Muskegon County Jail. An assistant prosecutor told 24 Hour News 8 that charges are expected to be filed Wednesday morning.

MCC athletic director Marty McDermott praised the student-athletes' quick thinking and the faculty's response. He said the college's response is his next priority.

"Being an open campus, it's tough," said McDermott. "Hopefully we learn something from this, and we can make this place even safer than it already is."

According to his MySpace page, Jando graduated in 2008 from Finch University of Health Science-Chicago Medical School. According to the State of Illinois, his first podiatrist license was issued in 2009 and he has been licensed to practice since then.
