MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - One man was shot to death and three people are in custody after fleeing from police and crashed their car early Sunday morning.

Shortly after 1 a.m., Muskegon police went to the 1200 block of Allen Avenue after gunshots were reported. When they arrived, they found one man shot twice -- once in the upper torso and once in the head. Deonte Billups, 20, of Chicago, was rushed to a hospital where he later died.

A witness told police a tan four-door car was seen leaving the area around the time of the shooting, traveling west on Allen Avenue toward Getty Street. A similar vehicle was seen by police at Getty Street and Laketon Avenue, and sped away.

Police followed the car until it crashed at the corner of Ray Street and E. Dale Avenue. Two people were immediately arrested and the third was caught after a foot chase.

They remain in jail on various charges. Police said the shooting does not appear to be random.

The investigation continues.
