FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (WOOD) - A man accused of crashing his car into a group of motorcyclists has been officially charged in court, WLUK reports.
Clinton Lovelace, 25, of Hilbert, Wisc. faces second-degree reckless homicide, three counts of second-degree reckless injury, one count of second-degree reckless endangerment, and one count of felony bail jumping. His bond was set at $75,000.
Lovelace's car crossed the center line on Highway 151 near Welling Beach Road in the Town of Taycheedah, and collided 10 of 12 motorcyclists.
Dan Winsemius, 59, from Twin Lake died in the crash, and eight others were injured.
The bikers, from Muskegon Motorcycle Gang, were on their way home from a promoted and listed MMG event.
Lovelace told he police he doesn't remember the crash, according to the criminal complaint, WLUK reports. He was taking two prescription drugs at the time of the crash, and syringes were found in his clothes.
The complaint does not cite a reason why his vehicle crossed the center line and into the oncoming motorcyclists.
Lovelace was ordered to stand trial on June 15; however, prosecutors did not increase the charges yet to reflect the second death because they are awaiting blood test results.
The prosecutor has about 30 days to decide whether to add charges for the second motorcyclist who died.
