Thousands in Muskegon for Hot Rod tour
Week-long car show stopped in West Michigan Sunday

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - Organizers said they think more than 75,000 people packed downtown Muskegon to see the Hot Rod Power Tour.
"It's got to be a big, big boost to everyone. You'd have to be crazy not to have 50,000 people," said Milwaukee Chevy owner James Haas.
The Hot Rod Power Tour first stopped at the GM Proving Grounds in Milford -- not far from Detroit -- on Saturday.
The week-long traveling car show -- sponsored by Hot Rod magazine -- featured about 3,500 cars when it made its Sunday stop in Muskegon.
The car owners will travel about 1,400 miles before ending their trip in Texas on Friday.
One father and son from the Muskegon area are showing off a pair of pristine pickup trucks in the show. They said they took pride that Muskegon was one of the show's seven stops.
"It's overwhelming to see all these people walking around downtown Muskegon," said Nick Young of Fruitport. "You don't see Muskegon like this ever."
"It's a shame Summer Celebration is no longer," added Larry Young. "I hope this car tour continues each year and brings people here."
