NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD) - Seventeen-year-old Erin Westrate had the hottest ticket in town Friday night. She was off to see "New Moon," the latest film in the Twilight series. But she wasn't expecting to get bitten.
The movie, a wildly popular vampire love story, is shattering attendance records across the nation.
During the film, which Westrate and her friend saw at Cinema Carousel Theatre in Norton Shores, her friend made a comment about how she would like Edward, the film's hero, to bite her anytime.
Next, the man in front of the pair started making rude sexual comments directed at the girls. They said they wanted to change seats but there was nowhere else to go.
When the movie was over, the man approached them and asked if they enjoyed the film. But suddenly, his demeanor changed.
"He got maybe two, three feet from my chair and he grabs me by the back of my hair, pulls me backward and bites me on the neck," Westrate said. "He didn't break the skin or anything."
The Norton Shores Police Department is looking for the man, described as white, about 45 years old and 5-feet tall with dark, spiky hair.
Police are treating this as an open assault investigation.
