Man shot to death in Muskegon Heights

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Muskegon County are investigating the fourth homicide in the area in the last month.

A passerby called 911 at 3:20 a.m. Monday after she saw a man slumped over the wheel of a gold Cadillac near Fifth Street and Summit Avenue. She told police she thought he was shot.

The victim -- 23-year-old Jeremy Lawrence of Muskegon -- was taken to a hospital where he later died of an apparent gunshot wound.

It is not known if Lawrence was shot in the car or elsewhere.

No one is in custody.

Neighbors are not cooperating with the investigation, for fear they could be the next target.

This crime occurred about four blocks from another homicide on Friday.
