MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - On November 23, A 43-year-old woman died after contracting the H1N1 flu, the first Muskegon County resident to succumb.
It's not known at this time if the woman had other health issues or a weakened immune system.
On December 1, the health department said a 58-year-old Muskegon County man became the second person in the county to die after contracting the H1N1 flu.
“While for the most part, those who have been infected with the H1N1 flu virus this season have made full recoveries, this incident reminds us that influenza can be deadly,” Ken Kraus, the Health Officer for Public Health – Muskegon County, said in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the Muskegon County woman.“
