MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A man has pleaded no contest to a charge of allowing his 85-year-old mother to live in filthy conditions and lie in her own waste for weeks.

Fifty-one-year-old Mark Anderson was charged with second-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult. He made the plea Thursday and will be sentenced July 10.

Police found Lucille Anderson Nov. 24 on a couch in the Muskegon apartment they shared. Authorities say her skin had started deteriorating from acid made by her own waste.

Mark Anderson is accused of not bathing her for more than a year. Authorities say he was unemployed and "sharing in" her Social Security checks.

Lucille Anderson's condition has improved.

City officials have ordered the home demolished because it's in disrepair.
