MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Michigan State Police wrapped up its investigation into missing money from the property room at the Muskegon Heights Police Department and turned its findings over to the prosecutor.

The state police told 24 Hour News 8 in May they were called to investigate by then-acting Police Chief Ron Rake to look into possible discrepancies into money received by the Muskegon Heights Police Department.

Rake resigned before May.

Investigators found the evidence room was "a mess," and that some money and drugs collected as evidence was missing.

It's now up to Muskegon County prosecutor Tony Tague to determine if criminal charges are warranted.
