MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) - Lynne Gill has officially been appointed chief of police by the Muskegon Heights city council.
Gill, who's been with the department for more than 20 years, was the acting chief following the resignation of interim chief Ron Rake in late March.
The city has been without a police chief since October, and the department is currently under investigation by the Michigan State Police. Rake is now with the Muskegon County Sheriff's Department.
City Manager Natasha Henderson told 24 Hour News 8 the mayor and the city council have faith that Gill will succeed as chief of the department during this time.
The city council scheduled an evaluation for Henderson on or before August 4.
24 Hour News 8 will continue to follow this story.
