MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) - A special meeting of the Muskegon Heights City Council has been called to discuss the performance of the city's police chief.
Councilman Willie Watson criticized Chief Lynne Gill's performance at the Monday night meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Kimberly Sims told 24 Hour News 8, after which the council decided to hold the special meeting.
Because it is a personnel matter, Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. meeting will be closed.
Gill was appointed to the position in June 2010 after the resignation of Interim Chief Ron Rake.
Council members were already evaluating Gill's performance before the Monday night meeting, according to the Muskegon Chronicle.
The criticism came after two weekend shootings, according to the Chronicle. A man was shot multiple times and a police cruiser as struck by gunfire.
