Christmas gifts stolen, tree destroyed

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - Thieves broke into a Muskegon woman's home sometime Wednesday and stole her children's Christmas presents, two flat-screen TVs, a portable dishwasher and various other valuables, authorities said.

Andrea Robar called police after she returned home from picking up her oldest son from school. The door of her house in the 1200 block of Holt Street had been kicked in.

The tree had been tossed aside, and gifts that were carefully wrapped, labeled and hidden behind a door were gone.

A couple strings of garland are the only signs of Christmas left for Robar and her children.

"It's hard. I have no Christmas tree to put up. Nothing. I have literally nothing," Robar told 24 Hour News 8. "Everything is gone."

Robar said her three teenage boys are taking it better than her 9-year-old daughter Sophia.

"It's hard because she is asking me, 'Am I going to have a Christmas?'" Robar said.

Sophia's Christmas list isn't long -- asking for things like a doll house, school clothes and shoes -- but unless there is a Christmas miracle, she won't be getting anything on it.

Robar said she doesn't know why someone would target her home. She said she is concerned for other families.

"Are they out there? Is there a next victim?" she wondered.

Muskegon police are now looking for who is responsible, but so far they are coming up empty-handed.

Now Robar is focusing on saving Christmas.

"I try to teach my kids it's all about family and being together and that's what matters most," she said.
