REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Several fire departments were called Sunday to a fire at a business in Reynolds Township that, after being closed down for remodeling, was supposed to reopen Tuesday.
Witnesses reported flames and heavy smoke coming out of M&S Quick Stop, 9469 Reed Road, north of Howard City.
Firefighters arrived at 7 p.m. and saw flames shooting from the roof.
Authorities say the fire started in the rear of the building, possibly in the attic.
Fire officials at the scene told 24 Hour News 8 it was a challenge because the store had a steel roof.
The building appears to be a total loss. No one was inside when the fire sparked.
